Intellectual Property Policy

Last updated:

This Intellectual Property Policy explains who owns the content on teewillow.com, how you may and may not use it, how we avoid selling anything that borrows from other people’s brands, characters or artwork, and how to tell us about a trademark, design, likeness or other intellectual property concern. For copyright notices specifically, please use the process on our DMCA page, which follows the formal requirements of U.S. copyright law.

At a glance

  • The Tee Willow name, logo, designs, product images and text belong to Tee Willow or are used under licence.
  • You are welcome to share links to our pages and photos of the shirts you bought; you may not copy our designs or images to sell them.
  • We only sell designs that are original or properly licensed, and we refuse personalization requests that use other people’s brands or characters.
  • Report concerns to support@teewillow.com with the subject “IP concern”; we acknowledge within 1 business day and review within 5 business days.

1. What we own

All content on the site is owned by Tee Willow or used under licence, and is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. That includes:

  • the Tee Willow name, the willow-and-collar logo mark and our wordmark;
  • the graphic designs and illustrations shown on our products and product pages;
  • product photographs, mock-up images, banners and icons;
  • product descriptions, size and care guidance, policy pages and other written content;
  • the layout, look and feel of the site, and the code we wrote for it.

Buying a Tee Willow shirt gives you ownership of that physical garment. You can wear it, give it away, sell it second-hand or donate it. Buying a shirt does not give you a licence to reproduce the design on other products.

2. What you are welcome to do

  • Browse, view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use.
  • Share links to our product pages, guides and policies on social media, in messages and in emails.
  • Post photos of yourself, your family or your pets wearing Tee Willow apparel. We love seeing them.
  • Quote a short extract from our guides with a link back to the original page.
  • Mention Tee Willow by name in an honest review, blog post or video about your purchase.

3. What you may not do

  • Copy, reproduce, trace, resell or republish our designs, product photos or product descriptions, including on marketplaces, print-on-demand platforms or other online stores.
  • Make products, stickers, digital files or other merchandise from our designs, or create “inspired by” versions that are substantially similar.
  • Use the Tee Willow name, logo or anything confusingly similar as a domain name, social media handle, product name or advertisement, or in any way that suggests a connection with us that does not exist.
  • Scrape or bulk-download images or content from the site with automated tools, other than normal search engine indexing that follows our robots.txt rules.
  • Remove watermarks, copyright notices or credits from any of our content.

4. Our trademarks

Tee Willow and our logo are trademarks of Tee Willow. You may use the name in text to refer to us accurately, for example “I bought this hoodie from Tee Willow”. You may not use our logo or a stylised version of our name without written permission. Other names and marks that appear on the site, such as carrier names on tracking pages or payment provider names at checkout, belong to their owners. Their appearance does not mean those companies endorse us or that we endorse them.

5. How we respect other people’s rights

Graphic apparel is a field where it is easy to borrow too much. We work to avoid it in three ways.

5.1 Designs we sell

We only sell designs that are original or properly licensed for use on our products. We do not sell apparel featuring sports team names and crests, licensed cartoon or film characters, band names and album art, celebrity names or likenesses, or brand logos, unless we hold a licence for that specific use, which would be stated on the product page.

5.2 Personalization requests

When a product offers personalization, the available options, such as names, dates, titles or pet names, are shown on its product page, and anything you submit must be yours to use. We refuse and refund personalization requests that would use someone else’s trademark, a character name used as a brand, a protected slogan or a celebrity’s name in a way that suggests endorsement. If we are not sure, we contact you before printing.

5.3 Likeness and publicity rights

We do not sell designs that use a celebrity’s or public figure’s name, photograph or likeness, and we will not print a photo of another person that you do not have permission to use. If a photo personalization option is offered and you upload a family photo, make sure everyone in it is happy to appear on a shirt. Images in our store, including lifestyle photos, are used with permission or created for us, and they never claim to show a real customer unless that customer has agreed.

6. How to report an intellectual property concern

If you believe something on our site infringes your trademark, design right, right of publicity or other intellectual property right, email support@teewillow.com with the subject “IP concern” and include:

  1. your name, organisation if any, postal address, email address and telephone number, and your relationship to the rights owner;
  2. a description of the right you believe is infringed, such as a trademark registration number and country, or a description and image of the original design;
  3. the exact URL of each product page or image concerned;
  4. a short explanation of why you believe the content infringes your rights;
  5. a statement that the information you provide is accurate and that you are the rights owner or authorised to act for them.

For copyright, please follow the specific six-element process on our DMCA page so that your notice meets the legal requirements.

7. What happens after you report

How Tee Willow handles intellectual property reports
Stage Our target time What happens
Report received Within 1 business day We confirm receipt and tell you if anything is missing
Review Within 5 business days of a complete report We compare the content with the right you describe
Action on a valid report Promptly after review We remove or change the product or content and stop printing it
Decision email With the action We explain what we did, or why we did not act

If we need more information to decide, we ask before we act. If we disagree that the content infringes, we explain our reasons and remain open to further discussion. Removing content is not an admission of infringement.

8. If you are a customer and a product you bought is removed

If we remove a design after you bought it because of an intellectual property concern, your order is still covered by our normal policies. You can return the item within 60 days of delivery under our Returns & Exchanges Policy, with free return postage, if you no longer want it. If an order has not yet been printed, we contact you, cancel the affected item and refund it in full within 7 days.

9. Ideas, feedback and artwork submissions

We love design suggestions: a hobby we have not covered, a holiday we missed, a pet breed people keep asking for. If you send us an idea or general feedback, we may use it freely without payment or credit, but we will never publish your personal details alongside it without your permission. If you are an artist and want to license your original artwork to us, tell us clearly before sending any files, so we can agree terms in writing first. We will not use submitted artwork without such an agreement.

10. Permission requests

Journalists, bloggers and creators who want to feature our products are welcome to use our product photos in an editorial context with a credit and a link back to the product page. For any other use, including advertising, product listings or merchandise, ask us first by email with details of the intended use. We reply within 1 business day and give our answer in writing.

11. Copycat stores and counterfeit listings

Popular designs are sometimes copied by other online stores, often with photos lifted straight from our product pages. If you see a Tee Willow design or photo on another site, please do not order from that site, because we cannot help with orders placed elsewhere and the quality and delivery are outside our control. Instead, send us the link. We review it and, where appropriate, ask the platform to remove the listing. Genuine Tee Willow orders are only placed on teewillow.com and are confirmed by an email from support@teewillow.com.

12. Common questions

Can I wear my Tee Willow shirt in my videos or photos?

Yes. Wearing a shirt you bought, in personal or commercial photos and videos, is completely fine. You do not need to ask us. A tag or link is always appreciated but never required.

Can I resell a shirt I no longer want?

Yes, you can sell or donate a garment you bought from us. What you cannot do is reproduce the design on new garments to sell.

Can our club or school adapt one of your designs?

Please ask first. Email us with details of the group, how many pieces you need and what you would like to change. If we can help, we will tell you how; if we cannot, we will say so clearly.

Can you print my business logo or a team crest?

Only where a product page offers that option, and only for artwork you own or have written permission to use. We cannot print a sports team’s crest, a franchise logo or another company’s brand, even for a private event, because those belong to their owners. If you are unsure, email us before ordering and we will tell you whether we can help.

Can I order a design with my pet’s photo?

If a product page offers photo personalization, you can upload a photo you took yourself. Please do not upload professional photos without the photographer’s permission, or photos of other people’s pets taken from the internet.
